On Remix and Glitch: Game Designer Rick Silva Talks Art and Tech

Rick Silva is a new media artist whose recent works explore landscape, remix and glitch. He makes new media work from video to video games and shows it at venues including festivals, cyberspace cafes and museums (Silva teaches at Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary.)

The exhibit Visual Rhythm opened July 7th at Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and Silva’s work, La Region Decentralized, paying homage to Michael Snow’s 1971 film La Region Centrale; along with Silva’s remix of Phil Morton’s Colorful Colorado, are part of it. Curator David Dadone of BMOCA told me in New York in March that he’s aiming to make the museum space really interactive in this show.  This Wednesday, July 11th three of the partipating artists –  Sterling Crispin, Rick Silva, and Fernando Velázquez – will engage in an expert talk at the museum in Boulder from 6-8 p.m. Rick Silva joined AdobeAirstreamRadio for this conversation early last week.
