Ai Weiwei, Tate Modern

With Ai Weiweis disappearance on everyones mind, including protesters in New York and Los Angeles pleading for his release, this video (on Vernissage TV) reminds us of Weiweis recent, thought-provoking installation, Sunflower Seeds, at Tate Modern until May 2, 2011.

From Tate Moderns site: “Sunflower Seeds is made up of millions of small works, each apparently identical, but actually unique. However realistic they may seem, these life-sized sunflower seed husks are in fact intricately hand-crafted in porcelain.”

Sunflower Seeds reveals the fathomlessness of human consumption.
