Fred Sandback at MCA Denver

One building and 16 ounces of string, that’s what one finds at MCA/Denver. Of course it’s much more than that. The conceptual, minimalist sculptures of Fred Sandback create transparent planes that change the perspective of the otherwise bare galleries at the museum, providing new insight for the viewer. Sandback was born in 1943 and died in 2003. His sculptures play off the minimal spaces of the museum’s architecture by David Adjaye and while only a few ounces of string, the suggestions of defining, cutting, remolding and reshaping the space works well here. It’s string and everything within and around it. Simple, but not quite profound.

The exhibition is currently on view at MCA/Denver for more information visit their website at:  http://www.mcadenver.org/
