Gallery Fridays: Austin, Denver, Santa Fe

What’s happening this weekend? More like, what isn’t happening!

 

AUSTIN

Well, the first event isn’t a fine art-related item, but Austin’s completely MUSIC-focused, because Austin City Limits Festival, OPENS at Zilker Park this weekend, September 16 – 18. A2’s Don Simpson posted about Metro Area, for which we gave away two free concert tickets, too.

September 17, Hank Waddell’s exhibit OPENS at Co-Lab Project Space, through September 24th. And, Eleanor Whitney lectures at Art House at 1pm.

Also, upcoming, September 22, at Visual Arts Center, University of Texas, is the screening of 13 Most Beautiful …, and it’s FREE!

Justin Boyd exhibit OPENS September 22 at ArtPace, which is in San Antonio. But would be worth the hour trip.

DENVER

Gregory Euclide exhibition OPENED September 15-October 15, at David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. Make the opening reception: Sept. 17, 7-10 p.m.

Concurrently, Robin Schaefer’s Unlearning the Differences OPENED September 15-October 22 at the Plus Gallery in Denver.

Overthrown Symposium: The State of Contemporary Ceramics happening today and tomorrow, September 16-17; on September 16, 5:30-8:00 p.m., will be a lecture with Art Critic Peter Schjeldahl; and September 17, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. a Panel Discussion with Overthrown artists at Denver Art Museum and DAM Contemporaries.

SANTA FE

One of Santa Fe’s favorite venues has a big OPENING tomorrow night: Polarities+Perception—definitely worth seeing.

Nancy Youdelman: Outside the Realm’s CLOSES tomorrow, September 17, at Eight Modern.

SITE Santa Fe CLOSES Suzanne Bocanegra and Pae White exhibitions September 18—one more chance to check it out!

Zane Bennett Contemporary OPENS JEWELRY / Yazzie Johnson & Gail Bird September 19.

Radius Books hosts a lecture with Alex Webb & Rebecca Norris Webb on September 23. The photographers will talk about their work and the bookmaking process.
