More Real Opens in Minneapolis — Check Out A2’s New Podcast!

Jonn Herschend created "Informational Video for More Real, or How Things Will Be Better for Lisa and Me"

From March 21st-June 9th, More Real: Art in the Age of Truthiness can be seen at Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the home institution of curator Liz Armstrong, who organized the show (which had a first opening last July at SITE Santa Fe). It has been AdobeAirstream’s great pleasure as the years have passed — and this posting occurs one day shy of our turning, officially, four years old on March 15, 2013 — to find that some of the plans hatched, in 2009, fitting into “wildest dreams” category, are coming to fruition.

AdobeAirstream will spend next week — March 19-25, 2013 — in residence at MIA in Minneapolis, capturing live interviews with audience members and even some VIPs including the Mayor of Minneapolis, in response to contemporary art live and out front in the More Real show. This is a media-presenter collaboration. What you’ll hear here is our first podcast, created pre-residency, with two more to come in early April and May. Those next shows will address those big questions the show raises, with audiences: Reality? Truth? Fiction? Art?

And if there are, to quote Bruce Jenkins, who has curated a film sidebar (More Reel, to play from April 11th-28th at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival), “duplicitous strategies” in contemporary art, isn’t encountering them sometimes, quite pleasurable?
